Save Your Pennies, Save Your Planet

Let’s face it, we’ve all got to get ourselves in gear and move towards more sustainable lifestyles.

Everyday we are making thousands of decisions, some of these are positive and some are not. Nobody is perfect, so we can all take extra steps towards greener living. Environmentalism is for everyone, it is our responsibility. Save Your Pennies, Save Your Planet will help you make small changes to save some wonga and save the planet in the process!

We know you’re all busy bees, so Save Your Pennies, Save Your Planet will bring you three simple adjustments each month. Three’s an easy number, available to everyone with no drastic changes. We can’t change the world overnight, it’s all about baby steps. Did I mention they’re easy?

Get Outside

No matter what you do, your lifestyle or time constraints, there is always time to get outside! Make it a priority to spend time in nature as often as possible. This could mean sitting in your garden with a cup of coffee in the morning, walking to work through the park or spending the weekend in the countryside.

Each week save money by replacing one indoor activity with an outdoor one. Instead of going to the pub have a game of football in the park, instead of a run at the gym have a run through the woods. Getting outside is great for you physically, reducing blood pressure, muscle tension and stress hormones, it’s also great emotionally and makes you much more appreciative of this world. Plus, it’s FREE!

Get Outside

Go second-hand

Did you know fashion is the second most polluting industry in the world? Using huge amounts unsustainable materials, dyes and sweat shops to produce their items. Last year in Britain we spent over £50b on clothes! That’s a huge amount. We could cut that cost by at least half by shopping second-hand. It puts money into good hands instead of big corporations. Buying second hand clothes has never been easier with the rise of online shopping apps and sites like Ebay. Even better, get to your local charity shops! It’s loads cheaper and your money will be helping the community.

Ditch That Surface Cleaner

Many high street surface cleaners produce unstable and polluting by-products when being produced. A lot of these chemicals that you’re wiping all over your house are not as tested or safe as you think either. Vinegar, Bicarbonate of soda, lemon and lime can be used instead. Stop forking out for these industrial polluters! Bicarbonate of soda can be used to clean stains off clothes and you can rid limescale from your taps and sinks with vinegar, lemons or limes!

Ditch that surface cleaner
